Digi Stories

For two years, we have the pleasure of showcasing the work of our talented students who create digital stories that reflect their unique perspectives and creativity. The Digi Stories initiative has enabled teachers to try something new, something different and something unique in their classrooms, to tell a tale.

These digital stories showcase the power of storytelling in the digital age and highlight the diverse range of skills and talents that young people have in our post primary schools.Together, let’s continue to celebrate the power of storytelling to inspire, educate and transform.

Testimonials

Digital story telling in our school, brought a novel opportunity for students to participate in learning. Students were excited to bring their knowledge of making videos and they took the lead in shared learning. Knowing their digital story would be watched beyond the classroom, motivated students to learn content to a high level of accuracy.

Benefits include students keen and competitive interest in watching each other’s digital stories for inspiration. In the classroom, there is increased social standing for a well-made digital story. Sharing digital stories with other years, yielded positive feedback from seniors, which elevated junior cycle students’ confidence. At the parent teacher meetings, parents were impressed, and some were emotional, to watch their child’s original digital stories.

At Colaiste Choilm, Swords, we’ve had the incredible opportunity to integrate digital storytelling into some of our Junior Cycle classes through UCD’s School of Education, #Digi-Stories initiative. This experience has enriched our students’ understanding of the specification and has also empowered them to express their creativity in a digital format. It has been great watching them bring their ideas to life with technology. The skills they’ve gained have are cross-curricular. We’re proud to be part of this forward-thinking initiative.
