The Adventures in Cyberland competition is funded by Cyberwise Partners as part of the Cyber Resilience Education in Primary and Post-Primary Schools initiative led by UCD School of Education.

Project Information

Between cookies, passphrases, phishing and ransomware attacks, getting to grips with online security is a complex and ever changing territory for all of us. Every aspect of our lives is impacted by advancing technological tools and systems that offer all sorts of opportunities and convenience, as well as risk and vulnerability. Big questions about freedom, privacy, and security, as well as technological know-how, are rich areas for the curriculum and can be explored from the perspective of any subject area making it a superb opportunity for cross-curricular learning.

To celebrate EU cybersecurity month we have a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their adventures learning about this shiny and sometimes scary Cyberland and the security that keeps them safe while online. Students are warmly invited to create projects reflecting on their experience of learning about any aspect of Cybersecurity. Selected entries will be collated into a digital book which will be accessible online to share students’ experience of learning about Cybersecurity with schools across Ireland.

Individual and collaborative projects can include:

  • Any form of short digital story about cybersecurity
  • Posters raising awareness of cybersecurity issues
  • Short stories, plays, poems, raps or performances about cybersecurity issues
  • Book or film reviews related to cybersecurity
  • Maps or tour guides to Cyberland, highlighting how cybersecurity preparation for travel impacts the journey

All students who enter the competition will receive a certificate of participation.

Entries will be judged by an expert panel and gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded across the different categories as outlined above. Finalists will be shortlisted from the medal winners and relevant students will be notified of the details of a shared learning day in UCD where the overall winners will be announced.
